Hymns

This page contains links to files of various hymns used over the years in the hope they will prove useful to others.

The first table contains hymns from “Hymns Ancient & Modern New Standard”. There are two files for each hymn: a Microsoft Word file with the melody and the words set out as a poem, and a PDF file with the 4-part harmony and underlaid words. The intention is that the graphics and texts in the melody files can be cut and pasted into service papers for congregational use, whilst the harmony files can be printed out for choral use. This is a work in progress during the coronavirus crisis - more hymns will be added soon.

The second table contains hymns from other sources. In particular, it contains hymns from The Hymnal 1982 (of the Episcopal Church of the USA), a volume which has the words printed between the staves; the files here present them “British-style” with the words separate from the music. Again, these are offered as Microsoft Word files, the intention being to make it possible to cut and paste the graphics and the texts into service papers.

The second table also contains other assorted hymns used over the years, such as a version of a hymn in Igbo.
